About Elite Scaleguard

Elite Scaleguard, Creature — human soldier, designed by Steve Prescott first released in Jan, 2015 in the set Fate Reforged and was printed exactly in 9 different ways.

A deck focused on +1/+1 counters and aggressive creature strategies, such as a White Weenie or a Selesnya Aggro deck, would benefit from including Elite Scaleguard. While it provides a nice boost with bolster 2 and can help control the opponent's creatures during attacks, there are potentially better options like Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit or Abzan Falconer that offer more versatile abilities and synergies in similar decks. Elite Scaleguard could see play as a budget option or as a situational tech card in certain metagames.

Rules

11/24/14

Bolster itself doesn’t target any creature, though some spells and abilities that bolster may have other effects that target creatures. For example, you could put counters on a creature with protection from white with Abzan Skycaptain’s bolster ability.
