Crookclaw Elder would be a great addition to a deck focused on bird and wizard tribal synergies, as it offers card draw and flying abilities. However, in a competitive setting, there may be better options such as Aven Wind Mage for a lower cost and immediate flying ability, or Azami, Lady of Scrolls for more consistent card draw. Crookclaw Elder could see play in a casual or themed deck, but may not be optimal for highly competitive environments.
