Consumptive Goo, Creature — ooze, designed by Carl Critchlow first released in May, 2003 in the set Scourge.
Consumptive Goo could be beneficial in a mono-black control deck that focuses on -1/-1 counters and utilizing +1/+1 counters for its own creatures. However, there are more efficient cards like Black Sun's Zenith or Skinrender that provide similar effects with greater impact. Consumptive Goo may not see much play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks due to its high mana cost and limited impact compared to other available options.

If it targets itself, it gets both -1/-1 and the +1/+1 counter during resolution. Since state-based actions (like being at zero toughness) are not checked until resolution is done, it does not die.
