Compost, Enchantment, designed by Douglas Shuler first released in Jun, 1999 in the set Urza's Destiny and was printed exactly in 6 different ways.
A deck that focuses on milling or discarding black cards from the opponent's library or hand would benefit from using Compost in Magic: the Gathering. However, there are better cards with similar effects like Phyrexian Arena or Dark Confidant that provide consistent card advantage without relying on the opponent's card types. Compost may not see much play in competitive decks due to its situational nature and more powerful alternatives available.

The ability triggers on a black card being discarded, milled, or countered, as well as a black card going to the graveyard from the battlefield.
