About Coastal Peak

Coastal Peak, Land — island mountain, designed by Julian Kok Joon Wen first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven Commander and was printed exactly in 2 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

**Coastal Peak** fits best in slower **blue-red (Izzet) control or tempo decks** that value mana fixing and can tolerate lands entering tapped, particularly in casual formats or Limited where fixing and cycling both carry extra value. The ability to cycle for {2} makes it less punishing in the late game compared to other tapped dual lands, helping reduce mana flood, which is a nice flexibility upside. However, in most competitive Constructed formats, it is outclassed by stronger dual lands such as **Steam Vents** (shock land), **Spirebluff Canal** (fast land), **Stormcarved Coast** (slow land), **Shivan Reef** (pain land), or even **Fiery Islet** (horizon land), all of which enter untapped under common conditions and provide better tempo. Because entering tapped is a real cost in faster formats, Coastal Peak generally should not see competitive play unless the format is very slow, budget-restricted, or values cycling synergies; otherwise, there are clearly better mana options available
