About Chelonian Tackle

Chelonian Tackle, Sorcery, designed by Lorenzo Mastroianni first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven.

Chelonian Tackle fits best in a green midrange or stompy-style deck that plays high-toughness creatures (like 0/4s, 1/5s, or creatures with naturally large butts) and wants efficient creature-based removal, especially in Limited where fight spells are strong; it’s particularly good in decks built around toughness-matters synergies (e.g., cards that assign combat damage equal to toughness or reward high toughness). However, at three mana and sorcery speed, it’s generally inefficient compared to stronger options like **Ram Through** (which can deal excess damage to the opponent and works at instant speed), **Blizzard Brawl** (very efficient in snow decks), **Inscription of Abundance**, or even **Tail Swipe**, all of which are more flexible or cheaper. As a result, Chelonian Tackle is playable in Limited and possibly in very niche toughness-focused builds, but it is unlikely to see competitive Constructed play unless the format strongly rewards high-toughness synergies.
