About Bonfire of the Damned

Bonfire of the Damned, Sorcery, designed by James Paick first released in May, 2012 in the set Avacyn Restored and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck that focuses on controlling the board and dealing damage to multiple targets would benefit from using Bonfire of the Damned, especially in situations where it can be cast for its miracle cost to surprise opponents. While there are other powerful red sorceries like Blasphemous Act or Anger of the Gods that may be more consistent in certain situations, Bonfire of the Damned can be a strong inclusion in decks looking for a versatile and potentially game-changing spell.

Rules

03/14/17

Bonfire of the Damned targets only the player. Creatures with shroud or hexproof that player controls will be dealt damage by Bonfire of the Damned if it resolves.

03/14/17

Bonfire of the Damned’s converted mana cost is based on its mana cost of , even if you’re casting it for its miracle cost. For example, if you cast Bonfire of the Damned for its miracle cost and choose 4 for X, its converted mana cost is 9.

03/14/17

Preventing some or all of the damage dealt to the player won’t affect the amount of damage dealt to each creature that player controls. The same is true for any effect that increases or decreases the amount of damage dealt to the player.
