About Basalt Monolith

Basalt Monolith, Artifact, designed by Jesper Myrfors first released in May, 2020 in the set Limited Edition Alpha and was printed exactly in 20 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander. It's a key card in 63 combos.

Basalt Monolith is a versatile card that can benefit decks looking to ramp up their mana quickly, especially in colorless or artifact-heavy decks. While it has the drawback of not untapping during the untap step, its ability to generate three colorless mana can be powerful in accelerating your game plan. However, there are better options available such as Grim Monolith, which costs one less to cast and untap, making it a more efficient choice in most situations. Basalt Monolith can still see play in certain strategies that require additional mana acceleration or synergize well with untap effects, but it may not be a staple in every deck.

Basalt Monolith’s last ability can untap it as often as you can pay for it. If you believe you’ve found a way to generate an unbounded amount of mana with it, you’re probably right.
