About Angel of Destiny

Angel of Destiny, Creature — angel cleric, designed by Ryan Pancoast first released in Sep, 2020 in the set Zendikar Rising and was printed exactly in 6 different ways.

A deck focused on gaining life and aggressive combat strategies, such as a white weenie or lifegain deck, would benefit from including Angel of Destiny as it provides a powerful win condition. While Angel of Destiny has a unique ability to potentially win the game in one swing, it may be overshadowed by more efficient and versatile cards like Serra Ascendant or Baneslayer Angel in competitive play due to their immediate impact and resilience. However, Angel of Destiny could still see play in casual or themed decks looking for a fun and flavorful win condition.

Rules

09/25/20

All first-strike combat damage is dealt at the same time, and, separately, all regular combat damage is dealt at the same time. If one of those amounts of combat damage is enough to cause the player being dealt damage to lose the game, Angel of Destiny’s first triggered ability has you gain life, but the other player has already lost the game and can’t gain life.

09/25/20

If Angel of Destiny leaves the battlefield before your end step, its last ability won’t trigger and won’t cause a player to lose the game, even if Angel of Destiny attacked that player earlier.
