About Aggravate

Aggravate, Instant, designed by Matt Stewart first released in May, 2012 in the set Avacyn Restored.

Aggravate would be beneficial in a red aggressive deck that aims to quickly deal damage to the opponent and control the board by forcing their creatures to attack. While Aggravate can be effective in certain situations, there are potentially better cards like Blasphemous Act or Anger of the Gods that offer more impactful board control or damage potential. Whether Aggravate should see play would depend on the specific strategy and meta of the deck, as it can be a situational and risky card to include.

Rules

05/01/12

Aggravate targets only the player. Creatures with hexproof that player controls will be dealt damage by Aggravate if it resolves.

05/01/12

If, during a player’s declare attackers step, a creature is tapped, is affected by a spell or ability that says it can’t attack, or hasn’t been under that player’s control continuously since the turn began (and doesn’t have haste), then it doesn’t attack. If there’s a cost associated with having a creature attack, the player isn’t forced to pay that cost, so it doesn’t have to attack in that case either.
