About Farrel's Mantle

Farrel's Mantle, Enchantment — aura, designed by Anthony S. Waters first released in Nov, 1994 in the set Fallen Empires and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck focused on aggressive strategies and combat tricks would benefit from Farrel's Mantle, as it provides a way to deal additional damage and potentially remove an opposing creature. However, there are better cards with similar effects, such as Rancor or Angelic Destiny, which offer more consistent and powerful effects. Farrel's Mantle may not see much play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks due to its conditional nature and the availability of stronger alternatives.

Rules

01/25/11

The enchanted creature’s controller cannot choose to have the enchanted creature deal damage to itself. If there are no other creatures on the battlefield, then a legal target cannot be chosen so the ability does nothing.

10/01/08

If the same creature is enchanted with more than one Farrel’s Mantle, they’ll each trigger if that creature attacks and isn’t blocked. The creature’s controller may have it deal damage multiple times. As long as the enchanted creature’s controller chooses to use Farrel’s Mantle’s ability at least once to deal damage, the enchanted creature will deal no combat damage.

10/04/04

If you put this on your opponent’s creature, they decide whether or not to make their creature deal no damage to you.
