Tim Curry died on Tuesday night (25) at the age of 80. The cause of death was not disclosed. His manager, Marcia Hurwitz, said the actor died at his home in Los Angeles.

Over a career spanning film, television and theater, Curry created characters that remained etched in audiences' memories. One of his best known was Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a role created especially for him in the musical The Rocky Horror Show, first staged in 1973.

Two years later, he reprised the role in the film adaptation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The movie became a cult classic and also starred Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick. Curry's performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter became one of his most enduring trademarks.

The actor also played Pennywise in the 1990 miniseries It, bringing Stephen King's clown to television. Among his other roles, he played the villain in Legend (1985), the hotel manager in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and Gomez Addams in Addams Family Reunion (1998).

After suffering a stroke, Tim Curry continued to work primarily as a voice actor and appeared in television and film productions. In 2025, he released his autobiography, Vagabond, which covered his artistic career and recovery following the stroke.
