Disclosure Day, a new science-fiction adventure directed by Steven Spielberg, will begin streaming on Peacock on October 9. The film stars Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor as a meteorologist and a whistleblower who become involved in a discovery linked to extraterrestrial life.In the story, the two characters uncover an unexpected connection with alien beings and risk their lives to reveal the truth to the world about extraterrestrial activity and abuses committed by the United States government.Released in theaters on June 12, Disclosure Day also features Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, Wyatt Russell, Eve Hewson and newcomer Courtney Grace. The film grossed US$ 241 million at the worldwide box office during its theatrical run.Universal invested US$ 115 million in the production and another US$ 80 million in marketing the action drama. The film was well received by critics, earning an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audience response, however, was more moderate.The story continues Spielberg’s interest in tales about extraterrestrial life, a theme featured in hits such as E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The director has also won Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture for Schindler’s List, as well as the Oscar for Best Director for Saving Private Ryan.Spielberg has also received multiple nominations for films such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Munich, War Horse, Lincoln, The Post and West Side Story. More recently, he was nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture as a producer of Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao.
