How does Today's anime work?

An anime is picked for the day and everyone gets the same one. You have six tries, and each guess is compared by studio, decade of first airing, source and genre.

Green means the same, amber on the decade means within ten years, and the arrow says whether the answer is older or newer than your guess.

Which titles can come up?

372 of them, written by hand, from 1960 to the 2020s and across 63 studios. They lean towards titles people have actually watched rather than a list of the obscure.

Why is there no episode count?

Because seasons, films, OVAs, specials and recaps give different numbers for the same work. It is the same reason the book challenge has no page count: a column has to be defensible cell by cell.

Why do light novels and novels share one label?

Because the line between them is a marketing label rather than a fact, and on the edge cases I would get it wrong. A coarse column that is right beats a fine one that is not.

Which studio counts when several worked on it?

The studio credited with the production. Where a title was normalised, like Studio Pierrot and Pierrot, both spellings collapse into one, because two spellings would show a miss where the answer actually matched.
