About Vodalian Illusionist

Vodalian Illusionist, Creature — merfolk wizard, designed by John Matson first released in Jun, 1997 in the set Weatherlight and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck focused on tempo and control strategies, such as a Merfolk tribal deck or a blue-based control deck, would benefit from including Vodalian Illusionist. While it can provide temporary removal or protection for key creatures, there are potentially better options like Aether Adept or Teferi, Time Raveler that offer more versatile effects and utility in various situations. However, Vodalian Illusionist could still see play in specific metagames or decks looking for a unique disruption tool that can catch opponents off guard.
