Tester of the Tangential would fit best in a blue-based tempo or spellslinger deck that plans to cast progressively larger spells, letting it grow naturally through its Increment ability and then convert that growth into value by redistributing +1/+1 counters before combat; it also has some synergy in Simic (blue-green) counter-focused decks that care about +1/+1 counter manipulation. However, it’s relatively slow and mana-intensive compared to established options—cards like **Ledger Shredder** (which grows efficiently while filtering draws), **Stormchaser Drake** (in spell-heavy builds), or in counter decks **Hardened Scales**, **Ozolith, the Shattered Spire**, or **Forgotten Ancient** (which distributes counters far more explosively) generally provide stronger or more efficient payoffs.
