About Smothering Abomination

Smothering Abomination, Creature — eldrazi, designed by Aleksi Briclot first released in Oct, 2015 in the set Battle for Zendikar Promos and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck focused on sacrificing creatures for value, such as a sacrifice or aristocrat-style deck, would benefit from using Smothering Abomination in Magic: the Gathering. While it provides card advantage by drawing a card whenever you sacrifice a creature, its drawback of sacrificing a creature at the beginning of your upkeep can be mitigated by decks that can easily generate tokens or have ways to benefit from sacrificing creatures. However, there are potentially better cards for this strategy, such as Grim Haruspex or Midnight Reaper, which offer similar card draw benefits without the upkeep sacrifice requirement, making them more versatile options that may see more play in competitive decks.
