About Overabundance

Overabundance, Enchantment, designed by Ben Thompson first released in Oct, 2000 in the set Invasion.

A deck that focuses on ramping up mana quickly and efficiently, such as a red-green ramp deck, would benefit from using Overabundance. This card can accelerate mana production but at the cost of dealing damage to the player, which can be strategically used to pressure opponents or combo with other cards that benefit from damage. While Overabundance can be a powerful tool in certain strategies, there are potentially better options like Mana Reflection or Zendikar Resurgent that provide similar benefits without the drawback of dealing damage to the player, making them more versatile and reliable choices in most cases. Overall, whether Overabundance should see play depends on the specific deck and strategy being employed.

Rules

10/04/04

The ability deals one damage even if the land produces no mana when it was tapped to use a mana ability. This can happen with lands that produce a variable amount of mana.
