Mourning, Enchantment — aura, designed by Terese Nielsen first released in Oct, 2000 in the set Invasion.
Mourning is a solid card for a control or midrange deck that aims to weaken opposing creatures while maintaining board presence, particularly in a black-themed deck where creature removal and disruption are key strategies. It can be especially effective in decks that utilize recursion or synergy with enchantments, allowing for repeated use of its debuff. However, there are arguably better options like Darksteel Mutation, which can completely neutralize a creature by turning it into a 0/1 Insect, or Doom Blade, which outright destroys a target non-black creature. While Mourning has its niche, it may not see widespread play compared to these more impactful alternatives.
