About Grab the Reins

Grab the Reins, Instant, designed by Michael Sutfin first released in Oct, 2003 in the set Mirrodin and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

Grab the Reins would benefit aggressive red decks looking to gain temporary control of an opponent's creature for a powerful attack or to deal direct damage by sacrificing a creature. While it offers versatility with its entwine ability, other cards like Threaten or Act of Treason may be more efficient for stealing creatures, and cards like Lightning Bolt may be better for direct damage. Grab the Reins could see play in specific deck archetypes that value its flexibility and potential for game-ending plays.

Rules

12/01/04

If you cast this with Entwine, you don’t get priority in the middle of resolution. You can’t steal something, do anything (like attack with it), and then sacrifice it.

12/01/04

If you pay the entwine cost, you can sacrifice the creature you gain control of with Grab the Reins.
