This card, Extract from Darkness, would benefit a control or reanimator deck looking to disrupt their opponent's strategy while also gaining a powerful creature for themselves. While Extract from Darkness is a solid inclusion in decks focused on graveyard interactions, there are arguably better options such as Reanimate or Animate Dead which offer more efficient ways to reanimate creatures. However, Extract from Darkness could still see play in certain strategies that require a mix of milling and creature recursion.

Extract from Darkness doesn’t target a creature card. You choose which card you’re putting onto the battlefield as it resolves. You can choose any creature card in a graveyard at that time, including one just put into a graveyard by Extract from Darkness. If there are no creature cards in graveyards at that time, Extract from Darkness simply finishes resolving.
