A deck that focuses on ramping up lands quickly, such as a green ramp or landfall deck, would benefit greatly from including Avenger of Zendikar. The ability to create a large number of Plant tokens based on the number of lands you control can quickly overwhelm opponents. While there may be other powerful cards in Magic: the Gathering that can provide similar benefits, Avenger of Zendikar's synergy with land-based strategies makes it a strong contender for inclusion in decks that can take advantage of its abilities.

The landfall ability triggers whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control for any reason. It triggers whenever you play a land, as well as whenever a spell or ability (such as Rampant Growth) causes you to put a land onto the battlefield under your control. It will even trigger when a spell or ability causes another player to put a land onto the battlefield under your control (as can happen with Yavimaya Dryad’s ability, for example).
