This card, Vanguard's Shield, would benefit a defensive or control-oriented deck that aims to stall the game and protect key creatures. While it can be useful in certain situations, there are better options available such as Swiftfoot Boots or Lightning Greaves which provide not only protection but also additional abilities like haste. Vanguard's Shield may not see much play in competitive decks due to its limited impact compared to other equipment cards available.
