About Huatli's Raptor

Huatli's Raptor, Creature — dinosaur, designed by Randy Vargas first released in Apr, 2019 in the set War of the Spark.

This card would be a great addition to a Selesnya (Green-White) deck focused on +1/+1 counters and proliferate mechanics, as it provides both vigilance and the ability to proliferate upon entering the battlefield. While Huatli's Raptor is a solid choice for such a deck, there are potentially better options like Pelt Collector or Scavenging Ooze that offer more versatility and impact. However, Huatli's Raptor could still see play in a specific theme or budget deck where its abilities synergize well with other cards.

Rules

03/19/21

If a permanent has +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters on it, they’re removed in pairs as a state-based action so that the permanent has only one of those kinds of counters on it.

03/19/21

You don’t have to choose every permanent or player that has a counter, only the ones you want to add another counter to. Since “any number” includes zero, you don’t have to choose any permanents at all, and you don’t have to choose any players at all.

05/03/19

If a spell or ability puts counters on a player or permanent and then instructs you to proliferate, choosing that player or permanent will give that player or permanent another of those counters.

05/03/19

The War of the Spark set doesn’t include any ways for players to have counters, but some cards in other sets say that a player “gets” a counter of a certain kind. Notably, emblems aren’t counters.
