About Fireblade Artist

Fireblade Artist, Creature — human shaman, designed by Steve Argyle first released in Jan, 2019 in the set Ravnica Allegiance and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Fireblade Artist would be a great addition to an aggressive Rakdos deck focused on sacrificing creatures for value and dealing direct damage to the opponent. While it offers a consistent source of damage, other cards like Judith, the Scourge Diva or Mayhem Devil might provide more impactful effects in a sacrifice-themed deck. However, Fireblade Artist can still be a strong inclusion in the right deck, especially if the strategy revolves around sacrificing creatures and applying pressure early in the game.

Rules

01/25/19

Fireblade Artist’s triggered ability goes on the stack without a target. While that ability is resolving, you may sacrifice a creature. When you do, the reflexive triggered ability triggers and you pick a target opponent or planeswalker to be dealt damage. This is different from effects that say “If you do . . .” in that players may take actions after you’ve sacrificed the creature but before damage is dealt.
