Drowned Catacomb, Land, designed by Dave Kendall first released in Jul, 2009 in the set Magic 2010 and was printed exactly in 22 different ways. It see play in 2 formats: Commander and Brawl.
A deck that relies on both blue and black mana sources would benefit from using Drowned Catacomb, as it provides flexibility in mana production. However, there are better dual lands available, such as Watery Grave, which can enter untapped if you pay 2 life, making it more efficient in most situations. Drowned Catacomb could see play in budget decks or in decks that need additional dual lands, but in more competitive settings, other options may be preferred.

This checks for lands you control with the land type Island or Swamp, not for lands named Island or Swamp. The lands it checks for don’t have to be basic lands. For example, if you control Blood Crypt (a nonbasic land with the land types Swamp and Mountain), Drowned Catacomb will enter the battlefield untapped.
