About Benalish Infantry

Benalish Infantry, Creature — human soldier, designed by Dan Frazier first released in Jun, 1997 in the set Weatherlight and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A white weenie aggro deck would benefit from including Benalish Infantry due to its low cost and banding ability, allowing for strategic combat maneuvers and potential damage distribution. However, in the current Magic: the Gathering meta, there are likely better options for a similar cost, such as Elite Vanguard or Student of Warfare, which offer more aggressive stats or abilities. Benalish Infantry may struggle to see play in competitive decks unless the banding ability becomes more relevant in the metagame.

Rules

10/01/08

Creatures in the same band must all attack the same player or planeswalker.

10/01/08

If a creature with banding attacks, it can team up with any number of other attacking creatures with banding (and up to one nonbanding creature) and attack as a unit called a “band.” The band can be blocked by any creature that could block a single creature in the band. Blocking any creature in a band blocks the entire band. If a creature with banding is blocked, the attacking player chooses how the blockers’ damage is assigned.
