Sigourney Weaver has also been announced as a cast member, although her character has not been identified. That casting connects the film to a performer outside the television ensemble, but it does not reveal whether she is playing an ally, enemy, or a new figure in the Star Wars setting. The theatrical release is scheduled for May 22, 2026. That date makes The Mandalorian and Grogu one of the new Star Wars movies planned after The Rise of Skywalker, which opened in December 2019.
