Netflix has announced a new miniseries set in the Bridgerton universe. The production will focus on Lady Violet's youth and reveal the love story between her and Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, the man who would become her husband.

Before becoming the elegant matriarch known to audiences, Violet will be portrayed as a young woman still discovering the ways of love, family and society. The story will also explore the romance that gave rise to the Bridgerton family.

The new production will be the franchise's second spin-off. The first was Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, released in 2023 and described as a major success on the platform.

The miniseries has not yet been given a title. Netflix has also not announced a premiere date or revealed any cast members. As a result, details about who will play Violet, Edmund and the other characters remain unknown.

Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini are writing the series and will also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Tom Verica will direct and executive produce alongside Betsy Beers.

The description released for the story presents Violet at a stage before the events of the main series, when she was still seeking her place amid her family's and society's expectations. The focus will be on her relationship with Edmund and the formation of the family at the center of Bridgerton.

The production expands the franchise's universe following the success of Queen Charlotte, but there is still no information about the number of episodes, when filming will begin or when the series is expected to be released.
