Michael 2 is expected to address the controversies Michael Jackson faced in the 1990s, including allegations of child sexual abuse. The information came from Jaafar Jackson, the singer's nephew, who portrays him in the biopic.

According to Jaafar, the sequel aims to explore that period from Michael Jackson's perspective, allowing the King of Pop's voice to be heard. The actor hopes the new film will take a more personal approach to the most turbulent phase of the musician's career.

The first film does not cover those allegations. The story follows Michael Jackson from his early days through the start of the BAD era in 1987, before the first allegation against the artist emerged in 1993.

Explaining the scope of the first film, Jaafar said the production shows who Michael was before fame and before becoming the icon known to audiences. The film has already surpassed US$ 1 billion at the box office.

Jaafar also said he hopes to preserve Michael Jackson's view of people even amid the difficulties he faced during that period. In his view, the singer remained kind and eager to see the good in others, even with a broken heart.

Michael 2 is in pre-production. The sequel's release date has not yet been announced.
