Maisa has been announced as the lead of “Tempos de Glória,” Globo’s new 6 p.m. telenovela. The announcement was made during Upfront Globo 2027, held in São Paulo on Wednesday night (14).

In the story, the actress will play Glória, a young woman who dreams of becoming a soccer player in 1940s Brazil. She will live in a period marked by prejudice and restrictions on women’s presence on the soccer field.

After her father’s death, Glória will leave Rio de Janeiro and move to Matosinhos, a fictional city in Minas Gerais. There, she will face obstacles imposed by a society that rejects women in spaces traditionally occupied by men.

The telenovela will be set during a decisive period for Brazilian women’s soccer. In 1941, a decree banned women from playing sports considered incompatible with their nature. The restriction remained in place for nearly four decades.

The story will follow the struggle of women who challenged those barriers to keep playing and pursue their dreams amid gender inequality. “Tempos de Glória” was created and written by Carla Faour and Julia Spadaccini, with artistic direction by Patrícia Pedrosa.

The production is scheduled to premiere in June 2027, the same year Brazil will host the Women’s World Cup. The role will mark Maisa’s first leading role at Globo. The actress made her debut in the network’s telenovelas as Bia, the villain of “Garota do Momento”.
