About Liege of the Tangle

Liege of the Tangle, Creature — elemental, designed by Jason Chan first released in Oct, 2010 in the set Scars of Mirrodin and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck focused on ramping up mana quickly and generating a large number of lands would benefit most from including Liege of the Tangle, as it can turn those lands into powerful creatures. However, in competitive play, there are more efficient cards that offer similar effects, such as Avenger of Zendikar, which creates plant tokens based on the number of lands you control, making it a stronger choice in most scenarios. Liege of the Tangle could see play in more casual or thematic decks looking to have fun with turning lands into creatures.

Rules

08/07/20

Whether an affected land remains an 8/8 green Elemental creature depends only on whether it still has an awakening counter on it, not on whether Liege of the Tangle is still on the battlefield.
