Coyote vs. Acme earned $11.3 million in its second weekend in the United States, down 27% from its opening. That brought the comedy's North American box office total to $37 million.

In less than two weeks, its domestic box office surpassed the $30 million tax write-off Warner Bros. had hoped to claim when it decided to shelve the film. Internationally, the film added another $7.2 million, bringing its worldwide box office total to $44.2 million.

The film opened to $15.4 million in the U.S., ahead of Point of No Return, which earned $8 million. Its reception has also been strong with critics and audiences: Coyote vs. Acme holds a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and received an A CinemaScore.

That CinemaScore puts the film ahead of Looney Tunes: Back in Action, which received a B+, and on par with Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which also earned an A.

Inspired by the satire published in The New Yorker in 1990, the story follows Wile E. Coyote as he changes course: tired of the accidents caused by Acme Corporation products during his pursuit of the Road Runner, he decides to take the company to court.

Will Forte plays the down-on-his-luck lawyer who agrees to represent Coyote. John Cena stars as Buddy Crane, Acme's legal representative and the former mentor of Forte's character. Lana Condor also joins the cast, while James Gunn serves as producer, Sammy Burch wrote the screenplay and Dave Green directs the film.

Coyote vs. Acme remains in theaters in Brazil.
