A deck that focuses on aggressive strategies and evasion would benefit from including Zealot il-Vec, as its shadow ability allows it to bypass many blockers and its ability to deal damage to a target creature adds utility. However, there are more efficient options available in the current Magic: the Gathering card pool, such as Mirran Crusader, which offers double strike and protection from both green and black, making it a more versatile and powerful choice for aggressive white decks. While Zealot il-Vec has its niche uses, it may not see widespread play in competitive decks due to its limitations compared to other available options.

If an attacking creature has multiple evasion abilities, such as shadow and flying, a creature can block it only if that creature satisfies all of the appropriate evasion abilities.

An ability that triggers when something “attacks and isn’t blocked” triggers in the declare blockers step after blockers are declared if (1) that creature is attacking and (2) no creatures are declared to block it. It will trigger even if that creature was put onto the battlefield attacking rather than having been declared as an attacker in the declare attackers step.
