A control deck that focuses on maintaining board presence and disrupting the opponent's strategy would benefit from using Single Combat in Magic: the Gathering. While Single Combat can be effective in certain situations, there are generally better board wipe options available, such as Wrath of God or Supreme Verdict, which have lower mana costs and do not restrict casting creature or planeswalker spells. Single Combat may see situational play in decks that can capitalize on the temporary restriction it imposes, but it is not a staple card in most competitive decks.

As Single Combat resolves, first the player whose turn it is chooses a creature or planeswalker they control, then each other player in turn order does the same, knowing the choices made before them. Then each unchosen creature and planeswalker is sacrificed at the same time.
