About Seed Guardian

Seed Guardian, Creature — elemental, designed by Vincent Proce first released in Jan, 2016 in the set Oath of the Gatewatch and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

A deck focused on graveyard synergies would benefit from using Seed Guardian, especially in a midrange or control strategy where you can consistently fill your graveyard with creature cards, making the Elemental tokens larger and more powerful upon its death. However, cards like Splendid Reclamation might be more efficient for graveyard-based strategies as it can retrieve multiple lands, and Vengevine might be a better option for aggressive strategies due to its recursion potential and power level. Seed Guardian could see situational play in the right deck, but it may not be a staple in competitive Magic: the Gathering formats.

Rules

01/22/16

Use the number of creature cards in your graveyard as the ability resolves to determine the value of X. Seed Guardian will count toward this number as long as it’s still in your graveyard at that time.
