About Roilmage's Trick

Roilmage's Trick, Instant, designed by Johann Bodin first released in Oct, 2015 in the set Battle for Zendikar.

This card, Roilmage's Trick, would benefit a control deck that focuses on disrupting the opponent's board presence. It can be particularly effective against decks that rely on creatures to win the game. While it can be situationally powerful, there are better options available such as Cyclonic Rift or Supreme Verdict, which offer more versatile and impactful board control. Roilmage's Trick may see play in specific metagames where its ability to weaken opposing creatures is valuable, but in general, it may not be a top choice for competitive decks.

Rules

08/25/15

If you cast a spell with converge without spending any mana to cast it (perhaps because an effect allowed you to cast it without paying its mana cost), then the number of colors spent to cast it will be zero.

08/25/15

Unless a spell or ability allows you to, you can’t choose to pay more mana for a spell with a converge ability just to spend more colors of mana. Likewise, if a spell or ability reduces the amount of mana it costs you to cast a spell with converge, you can’t ignore that cost reduction in order to spend more colors of mana.

08/25/15

You can cast Roilmage’s Trick even if your opponents control no creatures. You’ll simply draw a card.
