About Reincarnation

Reincarnation, Instant, designed by Edward P. Beard, Jr. first released in Jun, 1994 in the set Legends and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.

Reincarnation would be a valuable addition to a graveyard-focused deck that aims to take advantage of creature recursion and sacrifice strategies. While Reincarnation offers a unique ability to bring back a creature from the graveyard, other cards like Eternal Witness provide more consistent and versatile graveyard recursion options, making them potentially better choices for decks looking to maximize value from the graveyard. However, Reincarnation could still see play in decks that specifically benefit from its ability to swap control of creatures, adding an element of surprise and disruption to gameplay.

Rules

10/01/09

All Reincarnation does when it resolves is set up a delayed triggered ability. If the targeted creature isn’t put into a graveyard this turn, that ability never triggers. If the targeted creature is put into a graveyard this turn, that ability triggers and resolves like any other triggered ability.

10/01/09

The creature that’s returned to the battlefield may be the same one that was put into the graveyard (assuming it’s still in the graveyard when the delayed triggered ability resolves). If so, it returns to the battlefield as a brand-new creature.
