About Nessian Hornbeetle

Nessian Hornbeetle, Creature — insect, designed by Jason Felix first released in Jan, 2020 in the set Theros Beyond Death and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.

The Nessian Hornbeetle would be a great addition to a green stompy deck that focuses on playing powerful creatures early in the game. However, there are better options like Avatar of the Resolute or Leatherback Baloth that offer more immediate value and impact on the board. While the Nessian Hornbeetle has potential, it may not be the most optimal choice for competitive play unless the deck specifically revolves around creatures with power 4 or greater.

Rules

01/24/20

If you don’t control a creature with power 4 or greater as your combat phase begins, Nessian Hornbeetle’s ability doesn’t trigger. If you don’t control one as the ability resolves, it has no effect. It doesn’t have to be the same creature at both times, however.
