Needle Spires, Land, designed by Jonas De Ro first released in Jan, 2016 in the set Oath of the Gatewatch Promos and was printed exactly in 10 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.
A deck that focuses on aggressive strategies and red/white color combinations, such as Boros Aggro or Mardu Midrange, would benefit from using Needle Spires as it provides both mana fixing and a potential threat in the form of a double strike creature. While there may be better land options for more competitive decks, Needle Spires can still see play in casual or budget decks looking to add some versatility and surprise factor to their mana base.

A land that becomes a creature may be affected by “summoning sickness.” You can’t attack with it or use any of its abilities (including its mana abilities) unless it began your most recent turn on the battlefield under your control. Note that summoning sickness cares about when that permanent came under your control, not when it became a creature nor when it entered the battlefield.

When a land becomes a creature, that doesn’t count as having a creature enter the battlefield. The permanent was already on the battlefield; it only changed its types. Abilities that trigger whenever a creature enters the battlefield won’t trigger.
