Magmaroth, Creature — elemental, designed by Yeong-Hao Han first released in May, 2020 in the set Hour of Devastation and was printed exactly in 4 different ways.
A deck that focuses on casting a high volume of noncreature spells, such as a spell-heavy burn or control deck, would benefit from using Magmaroth as it can consistently remove -1/-1 counters and become a powerful threat. However, there are better options available, such as Young Pyromancer or Monastery Swiftspear, which provide additional value when casting noncreature spells and have a more immediate impact on the game. Overall, while Magmaroth has potential in the right deck, it may not see as much play compared to more efficient alternatives.

Magmaroth’s second ability resolves before the spell that caused it to trigger. The ability will resolve even if that spell is countered.
