About Knight of the Reliquary

Knight of the Reliquary, Creature — human knight, designed by Michael Komarck first released in Feb, 2009 in the set Conflux and was printed exactly in 7 different ways.

A deck that benefits from Knight of the Reliquary would be a land-focused deck that aims to fill the graveyard with land cards to pump up its power and toughness. This card is commonly seen in decks like Lands Matter or Maze's End decks that rely on land synergy for their win conditions. While there may be other powerful cards like Tarmogoyf or Scavenging Ooze in similar color combinations that offer different advantages, Knight of the Reliquary's ability to tutor for specific lands and grow in size makes it a valuable inclusion in the right deck.

Rules

03/19/21

Knight of the Reliquary’s first ability applies only while it’s on the battlefield. In all other zones, it’s a 2/2 creature.

11/17/17

Sacrificing a Forest or Plains is part of the cost of Knight of the Reliquary’s activated ability. Assuming that sacrificing the land puts it into your graveyard, Knight of the Reliquary’s first ability will immediately give it an additional +1/+1 when that cost is paid because there’ll be a new land card in your graveyard. Paying a cost can’t be responded to (with Shock, for example).
