A deck focused on white and black mana with a strategy revolving around extorting opponents and gaining incremental life advantage would benefit from including Knight of Obligation in their lineup. While there may be more powerful cards with similar effects, such as Crypt Ghast or Pontiff of Blight, Knight of Obligation can still be a solid choice for decks looking to maintain board presence and drain opponents' life totals over time. Its vigilance ability also adds versatility to its utility on the battlefield, making it a viable option for certain deck archetypes.
