Char, Instant, designed by Dave Dorman first released in Jun, 2002 in the set Magic Online Promos and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.
This card, Char, would be beneficial in a fast and aggressive red deck looking to close out the game quickly. However, considering the drawback of dealing 2 damage to yourself, there are better alternatives like Lightning Bolt which deals 3 damage for just R without any self-damage. Char could see play in certain situations where the extra damage is crucial, but overall, Lightning Bolt is a more efficient choice for most decks.
