Ambush Commander, Creature — elf, designed by Darrell Riche first released in May, 2020 in the set Scourge and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.
A deck focused on Elf tribal synergies would benefit from including Ambush Commander, as it turns your Forests into Elf creatures, providing additional bodies for attacking and blocking. However, the card's high mana cost and vulnerability to removal make it less optimal compared to other Elf lords like Elvish Archdruid or Ezuri, Renegade Leader, which provide more impactful abilities and are easier to cast. Ambush Commander may not see play in competitive decks but could be fun in casual Elf-themed decks.

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.
