However, a card like Collected Company may be considered better in certain situations for its ability to put creatures directly onto the battlefield. Ajani's Influence could see play in a deck that values incremental advantage and has ways to protect its creatures, but its effectiveness may vary depending on the overall strategy of the deck.

You can’t cast Ajani’s Influence without a target creature. If the target creature is an illegal target when Ajani’s Influence tries to resolve, the spell doesn’t resolve. You won’t look at the top five cards of your library.
