Abzan Skycaptain would be a great addition to a deck that focuses on creature resilience and +1/+1 counters synergy, such as an Abzan or Selesnya counters deck in Magic: The Gathering. While there may be more powerful cards that offer similar effects, Abzan Skycaptain's ability to bolster 2 upon dying can provide a valuable boost to your board presence. It could see play in decks looking to build up a strong board presence and protect their creatures.

Bolster itself doesn’t target any creature, though some spells and abilities that bolster may have other effects that target creatures. For example, you could put counters on a creature with protection from white with Abzan Skycaptain’s bolster ability.
