Spider-Man: Brand New Day is heading for a historic opening in theaters across the United States and Canada. According to industry sources cited by Deadline, the new Sony and Marvel Studios film could bring in between $167 million and $173 million on its first day, including preview screenings.If the projection holds, the feature will surpass the current first-day record held by Avengers: Endgame, which grossed $157.4 million. Its performance would also be well ahead of the $121.96 million earned by Spider-Man: No Way Home on its opening Friday, previews included.The initial estimate for the weekend points to more than $330 million from 4,487 theaters. That result would make Brand New Day the second-biggest opening in North American market history, above No Way Home's $260.1 million. Preview revenue was revised to $72 million, surpassing Avengers: Endgame's $60 million. The figure includes advance screenings for Prime Video members on Wednesday and showings that began at noon on Thursday.PostTrak exit polls gave the film five stars among general audiences, parents, and children up to age 12. The film is also expected to set records in premium formats: the 4DX weekend forecast is $4.5 million, while ScreenX could reach $4 million.The hero's arrival is also driving the entire circuit. The North American market could gross between $407 million and $412 million over the weekend, surpassing the $402 million earned by all films during the opening of Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
