Taylor Swift has reached the top of the UK singles chart for the eighth time in her career. The singer topped the Official Charts with “Patient Zero”, despite receiving negative reviews for her latest projects.

The result marks Taylor Swift’s third UK number one in 2026. Before “Patient Zero”, she reached the top with “Opalite” and “I Knew It, I Knew You”, a track associated with Toy Story 5.

The singer also appeared in several other positions on the chart. “Cleveland” debuted at number three, while “Babylon” landed at number four. As a result, Taylor placed three songs in the top five of this week’s chart.

On the albums chart, The Life of a Showgirl returned to number one following the release of The Encore. The album has now spent its fifth non-consecutive week at the top of the Official Albums Chart.

Having both an album and a single at the top of the UK charts has also added to the singer’s list of records. This is the fifth time Taylor Swift has simultaneously topped the UK albums and singles charts.

The feat had previously occurred in October 2022, with Midnights and “Anti-Hero”; in November 2023, with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)”; in April 2024, with The Tortured Poets Department and “Fortnight”, a collaboration with Post Malone; and in October 2025, with The Life of a Showgirl and “The Fate of Ophelia”.

Now, in October 2026, The Life of a Showgirl and “Patient Zero” have repeated the double at the top of the UK charts.
