Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew got its first trailer on Tuesday (13). Directed by Greta Gerwig, whose credits include Barbie (2023), the new adaptation of C.S. Lewis’s series is scheduled to open in theaters on February 12, 2027.

The film is based on The Magician’s Nephew, published in 1955. Although it was the sixth book in the series to be released, it comes first in the story’s chronology. Its events take place before those of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The story centers on Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, played by David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell. The two young people become caught up in the experiments of Digory’s uncle, Andrew Ketterley, played by Daniel Craig. Emma Mackey and Meryl Streep are also in the cast of the new screen adaptation of Lewis’s story.

Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt will compose the score. The first trailer offers audiences a look at an adaptation of a chapter that, despite being published later in the series, takes place before the adventure in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Following its scheduled theatrical release on February 12, 2027, Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is set to arrive on Netflix on April 2 of the same year.
